The Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus), also known as the beaked coral fish, is a stunning marine species found in coral reefs across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Famous for its vibrant yellow vertical stripes on a white body, this fish stands out with its long, slender snout, which it uses to hunt for small invertebrates and tube worms hidden in crevices.

These fish typically grow up to 20 cm (8 inches) and are admired for their deep-bodied, compressed shape and a distinctive eye-spot on their dorsal fin, which helps confuse predators. Notably, they form monogamous pairs during breeding and are territorial in nature.

In aquariums, the Copperband Butterflyfish is a favorite for its beauty and its ability to eat pests like glass anemones (Aiptasia). However, they require excellent water conditions and plenty of live rock to graze on, making them a better choice for experienced aquarists.
